In a group of seven, we were to do several tasks which were site documenting, site analysing and precedent studies of urban infills and marketplaces. Our given site was Chow Kit located in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre. A place full of culture and different groups of people.
Final Project
For this semester, we were to design a contemporary marketplace of our own theme within an urban infill site which was Chow Kit located in the city centre. I had chosen food market as my program after doing the site analysis in project 1.
The purpose of proposing a marketplace in Chow Kit is to bring together all the local food in Malaysia to attract the tourists that visit the place for the markets. The wet market nearby can cooperate with this food market to provide food for the public. A connection will be created with the context where the food market depends on the wet market to operate and helps to increase the economy around Chow Kit area to grow.
