Architecture Culture & History 2

This module is a continuation of Architecture Culture & History 1 (ARC 1313) which teaches is in detail of the Western world from the revolutionary period to the present. Buildings are explored to relate it to the period.

Project 1 Architecture Building Analysis
This project consists of two parts which is the group task and individual task. As a group of 4, we are asked to choose a building in Klang. Klang is one of the oldest building in Malaysia so there are a lot to learn from the history. The building we have chosen is The Old Chartered Building which was built in 1808. It was formerly a bank but now it has turned into a boutique. As a bank in the past, it has many influence to Klang as Klang was famous for mining. So the bank was very much important in the trading world last time. I learn to interpret how the British influence Klang as well as the design of the building.

After that, it has been owned by the Indian and is turned into an Indian Saree Boutique quite well known in Klang. It is quite a big boutique with sarees of many choice. Many Indians go to buy sarees especially during Deepavali.

For the individual part, I choose to do the changes that the building undergoes from year 1808 to the present. I talk about the usage of the building since the building was built and the physical appearance as well as the spaces in the building.
